A periodic health checkup (once in every 6 to 12 months) will help detect health issues early on and ensure that required remedy or changes in the on-going treatment be taken on time.
Recommendation: It is recommended to pre-book your health checkup package minimum of one day prior and arrive on time on the day of tests/checkup, so that we can arrange for everything you need to go through in advance and the whole process of tests and checkups go smoothly and on time.
Preparation for Health Checkup Package
Following are the steps and practices that need to be followed for health checkup package:
Sleep: It is recommended to have a proper sleep of at least 6 hours prior to the health checkup. Inadequate sleep can affect your test results, for e.g. heart-beat, blood pressure, and body temperature.
Foods/Drinks: Avoid party and fatty foods 2 days (48 hours) prior to tests. Sticking to your usual lifestyle and not changing anything on your usual diet will give the real picture of your test results.
Minimum Fasting Required: Also avoid eating or drinking any kind of food 6 to 8 hours prior to the tests are conducted. Intake of food can adversely affect test results and for some tests like ultrasonography empty stomach is required for better delineation of organs. However, consumption of water can be done in order to avoid dehydration and to fill bladder prior to ultrasonography of lower abdomen. But one has to refrain from consumption of other liquids like tea, coffee, juices and soups.
Regular Medicines: Take regular medicines unless advised by your doctor not to take.
Alcohol/Tobacco: Avoid consumption of alcohol and tobacco 24 hours before the tests are to be conducted. Consumption of alcohol might affect the results of your tests, especially liver, kidney and blood tests.
Urine and Stool Samples: Containers for urine and stool sample can be obtained from the sample collection room a day prior to your appointment. Urine and stool samples should be submitted within maximum of one hour of collection, if these samples are collected at home.
Exercise: Avoid heavy exercise on the day of your checkup.
Jewelry/Clothing/Shoes: Avoid wearing jewelry while coming for the tests. It is advisable to wear loose clothing, which is comfortable enough and allow easy access to your upper arms, usually from where the blood sample is taken.
However, for comfort during the test procedure, a gown will be provided. Wear comfortable shoes (like sports shoes) if TMT is included in your health package.
Menstrual Period: Try to avoid conduction of tests during menstrual period as PAP smear will NOT be taken during this period. Moreover, the urine sample might get contaminated by menstrual blood and give false result (Normally there are no blood cells in urine).
It is also advisable not to conduct tests 4 days before and after menstrual period. It is also advised that women should stop using vaginal cream or foams 24 hours prior to the tests and health checkup.
Pregnancy: Pregnant women or those suspecting pregnancy should refrain from undergoing X-ray tests that are part of your health package.
Duration for Health Checkup and Test Reports: The health check-up process usually takes around 3 hours to complete. All test reports will be ready on the same day except for PAP smear which requires 2-3 days.
Old Medical Record: Carry records and reports of existing chronic diseases and medications, if any during your consultation with our physician. Doing this will help the doctors to have a better idea for complete diagnosis.
Availability of Health Package: We provide health checkup facility on all days except for unavoidable circumstance.
All the medical tests included in health package should be carried under supervision and advice of trained medical professionals or doctors.
